“At the conclusion of this project, the Chamber building will have a historic esthetic that will not only be in sync with this historic Island, but will also be attractive and welcoming to visitors and members alike,” Michael Hoyt, Chamber board president, said. “Islanders will be proud to have this space as their year-round visitor center.”

Through the generosity of Mark Hutker, Phil Regan, and Nelson Giannakopoulos at Hutker Architects, the Chamber developed a plan that will include new siding, windows, roof, and a public access area modeled after traditional visitor centers with a new reception area, display units, and digital information screens, according to a press release.

“We’re delighted to announce that Adam Hayes has been selected as the contractor for the renovation,” said Paul Watts, chairman of the Chamber building committee. “Mr. Hayes has been in business on Martha’s Vineyard for more than 20 years, and we’re looking forward to working with him.”

Marion Residence Completed by Hutker Architects, Inc. Currently Pursuing LEED ® Certification

October 21, 2011, Falmouth, Massachusetts – Hutker Architects, Inc. (HA) announces the completion of Aucoot Cove, a custom designed residence located in Marion, Massachusetts. This home combines 4,800 sq. ft of living space with boardwalks, landscape paths, stone patios and exterior decks, weaving together different interior and exterior spaces across two acres of water front property and providing stunning, direct views to the shoreline. Hutker Architects, Inc. and Lars V. Olson Fine Home Building are currently pursuing LEED Certification for this project on behalf of the Owner.

Hutker Architects Inc. provided design services and construction observation services for this home.  The property includes many unique features and sustainable principles inclusive of indigenous plantings that are used throughout the landscape, as well as landscape features and hardscape materials which have been harvested and re-employed directly from the site’s existing terrain.  Solar heating solutions are utilized to supplement domestic hot water supplies, and concrete floors with integrated hot water radiant heating serve all of the home’s open spaces and public use areas.

 The interior and exterior materials were selected for their durability, longevity and low maintenance qualities. Energy Star appliances as well as FSC certified materials were used throughout the home. High efficiency insulation techniques were implemented including the selection of doors and windows to provide a superior air-tight envelope to the entire residence. Physically defined zones throughout the home, combined with a digitally monitored HVAC system, result in well regulated, efficient heating and cooling loads year-round. 90% of the waste products from the project were recycled.

 LEED for Homes is a green certification program that rewards single-family residences that are designed and built to be energy and resource-efficient, healthier, and more durable for their occupants. LEED certified buildings complete a technically rigorous process that includes an energy analysis and onsite inspections to verify that the buildings are built to be energy and water efficient, environmentally sound and healthier places to live. Aucoot Cove is currently on track for LEED certification under LEED for Homes by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for achievement in green building and design.
